Fall Sports Season Recap!

Field Hockey

The Lions secured their third straight Friends Schools League (FSL) Championship this year. While they faced a challenging non-league schedule, they went undefeated in league play (10-10 overall). The season peaked with a 3-1 championship victory over Westtown, supported by an "electric" atmosphere and a dedicated student fan section.

  • Key Stats: Goalkeeper Abby Szafran recorded a massive 25 saves in a single game against Springside Chestnut Hill.

Football

The football team finished with a 4-5 record in a season defined by dramatic swings. Highlights included a blowout win over Jenkintown and a thrilling last-minute touchdown to win on Charter Day. The team celebrated its seniors during a final home game against Executive Education Charter.

  • Offensive Leaders: QB Moses Bruno (1,083 passing yards, 8 TDs), Elijah Jean (448 rushing yards, 8 total TDs), Shane Bradley (489 receiving yards, 5 TDs), and Porter Brown (set the season record for pancake blocks)
  • Defensive Leaders: Michael Pacitti (50 tackles, 2 INTs) and Lowen Swierczynski (8 TFL, 1 sack, 2 fumble recoveries)
  • Graduating Seniors: Elijah Jean, Cole Gainsley, Shane Bradley, Hayden Beck, JJ Garvin, Jason Kitahama, Atticus Stein, Jason Killich, Logan Brown, Samir Scriven, Cole Corwell, and Porter Brown

Boys Soccer

Finishing with an 8-6-1 record, the boys soccer team earned the #6 seed in the playoffs. The squad utilized a strong defensive rotation to collect five shutouts over 15 games and relied on a high-powered offense led by veteran seniors.

  • Roster & Positions:
    • Captains: Quincy Wade, Khalif Frazier, and Remzi Andic
    • Goalkeepers: Michael Kennedy and Ladi Ashiru-Balogun
    • Defense: Anton Kuzowsky, Lucas Tait, Truman Orthwein, and Ryan Farrington
    • Midfield: Remzi Andic, Boden King, Marko Kuzowsky, Ty Junge, Cole Odhner, Eli Martin, and Joey Greenberg (team-high 12 assists)
  • Honors: Quincy Wade (All-League, 10 goals) finished his career 5th in all-time ANC points. Khalif Frazier (Honorable Mention) led the team with 13 goals
  • Graduating Seniors: Khalif Frazier, Quincy Wade, Anton Kuzowsky, Ladi Ashiru-Balogun, and Liam Conaron

 

Tennis

With a roster of 16 athletes, many of whom were brand new to the sport, the tennis team focused on technical growth and tactical understanding. Though they finished with 2 wins, many matches were much closer than the final scores indicated, often pushing into multiple deuces.

    • Vanessa Coleman: Most Valuable Player
    • Zoe Martin: Coaches' Award for outstanding leadership

 

Volleyball

The varsity volleyball team ended their season 6-11. The year was highlighted by a stunning comeback against Girard College, where the Lions erased a 0-10 deficit in the final set to win 15-13. They also successfully raised over $1,000 for the Side-Out Foundation during their "Dig Pink" breast cancer awareness event.
