Girls Basketball

Our Girls Basketball program showed incredible heart and growth this winter. Though they finished the season with a 2-17 record, the team steadily improved despite having multiple players who were picking up the sport for the very first time. A major early-season highlight came with a dominant 68-25 victory over the Peddie School. In that standout game, senior Jayda Mayo led the way with 19 points and 7 assists, while freshman Amia Etreih put on a shooting clinic with 18 points, including 6 made three-pointers. Freshman Ella Koch also proved to be a major season-long contributor, adding 4 points and 4 rebounds in that specific matchup. On-court leadership came from the top all year, anchored by seniors Ava Teich and Jayda Mayo. Jayda led the squad with an average of 13.1 points per game, and Ava was the leading rebounder while averaging 10.4 points per contest. Looking ahead, the team will have tough shoes to fill as they lose three graduating seniors, but they remain highly optimistic about the offseason growth of their younger core.

Boys Basketball

The Boys Basketball team faced a tremendous amount of adversity this winter, but they simply refused to quit. They put together an outstanding overall record of 17-8, ultimately falling just short of capturing the FSL championship title. The squad was anchored by seven seniors who helped weather an unpredictable year, setting a fantastic foundation for the program's younger players to build upon. Captains Dior Carter, Cam Smith, Bryce Rollerson, and Ryan Warren provided exceptional leadership throughout the journey. When it came to post-season honors, both Ryan Warren and Bryce Rollerson were named to the FSL All-League 1st Team, while Dior Carter received an Honorable Mention. The team's Coaches Awards went to Dior Carter, Ryan Warren, Bryce Rollerson, Jasin Custus, and Eyn Braxton. This was also a historic year for milestones within the program: Dior Carter surpassed the 1,000-point career mark, Bryce Rollerson reached an incredible 2,000 career points, and Coach Kevin Givens celebrated his milestone 400th career victory.

Girls Ice Hockey

It was another spectacular winter for Girls Ice Hockey, as the team rallied together to finish with a stellar 9-1 record in non-league play. Led by captains Molly McCabe, Serena Hasen, Georgie Fowler, and Tatum Moore, this hard-working and enthusiastic roster featured a great mix of veteran and first-time skaters who refused to give an inch. Between the pipes, goaltender Sadie Hasen anchored the defense by posting two shutouts across 10 games. The defensive blue line was locked down by the tough, honest play of Molly McCabe, Joey Baker, Sophia Mergen, Savannah Hill, Avia Rodgers, and Avery Dean. Meanwhile, an unselfish offensive attack generated key goals and assists all season, driven by forwards Serena Hasen, Tatum Moore, Georgie Fowler, Lily Ohdner, Juliette Bara, Olivia Sweiguard, Addy Childs, Zoe Martin, Theresa Vandegrift, Briana Glebe, Stephanie Antonyuk, and Sadie Morey. As the team looks to a bright future with a majority of players returning, they bid a fond farewell to three graduating seniors —including Molly McCabe, whom we wish the absolute best as she continues her hockey career at Stevenson University.

Boys Ice Hockey

Our Boys Ice Hockey team entered their winter season with high expectations and excellent camaraderie, and they certainly delivered on that promise. They wrapped up a fantastic regular season with a 12-2-2 record. A deeply meaningful highlight off the ice came when the program officially retired the jersey of their late, beloved player and coach, Cade Gurney. Facing immense challenges throughout the year only seemed to make the roster stronger. The boys rallied together when it counted most, meeting their ultimate goals and finishing the season by defeating Germantown Academy to capture the championship title.

Wrestling

Finally, our Wrestling program demonstrated immense grit and work ethic during a challenging 3-17 season. Due to a small roster, dual meet victories were hard to come by as ANC could only fill 10 out of the 14 standard weight classes. The tightly-knit team consisted of five seniors, two sophomores, and three freshmen. Veteran seniors Tait Asplundh, Jason Kitahama, and Atticus Stein provided steady leadership, alongside senior newcomers David Pomeroy and Kai Smith. The sophomore class featured Aksel Bau-Madsen and Braden Damm, while the freshman class was rounded out by Everett Cooper, Kaden Lermitte, and Brandon Tweedy-Strong. Serving as team captains, Braden Damm and Jason Kitahama led by example on the mats all season long.

In wrestling, individual excellence can shine through even when the team faces challenges, and this season saw several spectacular individual achievements on the state and national level. At the 126 lbs class, captain Braden Damm posted an outstanding 19-8 record and placed 5th at the State Prep Tournament (PAISWT). At 190 lbs, Tait Asplundh went 11-18 and took 6th at the State tournament. Both Damm and Asplundh successfully qualified for the National Prep Wrestling Tournament and earned All-League honors. Our younger wrestlers also stepped up big at the State tournament: freshman Everett Cooper (132 lbs) went 17-12 to finish 7th, and freshman Kaden Lermitte (138 lbs) went 14-13 to finish 8th, with both earning All-League Honorable Mentions. The rest of the fighting roster included Bradon Tweedy-Strong at 138 lbs with a 3-3 record, Aksel Bau-Madsen at 150 lbs with a 9-9 record, Atticus Stein at 150 lbs with a 2-16 record, David Pomeroy at 165 lbs with a 5-9 record, Jason Kitahama at 172 lbs with a 9-14 record, and Kai Smith at 172 lbs with a 6-2 record.
