Spring Musical - Seussical the Musical

The spring musical for 2010-2011 is Seussical the Musical.

Based on the beloved characters and stories of Dr. Seuss, Seussical the Musical follows the adventures of Horton, an elephant who one day hears voices coming from a speck of dust. Your favorite Seuss characters are brought to life in this fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza: The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Mayzie LaBird, and a little boy with a big imagination—Jojo. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant, in a story that makes you laugh and cry.

Students interested in performing can participate in a variety of acting, singing, and dancing roles in this lively musical. Behind the scenes, students will tackle all aspects of technical theater, from props to lights, sounds to stage management, running crew, make-up, and costumes — the students will play vital roles to keep the actors and show moving forward.

Research and design positions are available and can be practical experience towards a Performing Arts Portfolio. Highly motivated students are able to delve even deeper into a production aspect of their choice through Senior Project. Past projects include lighting design, costume design and choreography.

The spring musical is one the highlights of the school year and usually includes about half of the student body participating in some form and many of the faculty as well. Auditions will be held early January.
