Overview
The purpose of social life at ANC is to:
- Support academic work by providing needed recreation for the students
- Help the students come to know one another, make friends, and develop a sense of New Church community
- Teach, strengthen, and enjoy all the moral virtues
ANC offers active Arts and Athletics departments. Additionally, social functions take place each weekend throughout the school year, and the Academy sponsors clubs and organizations for students who want to be involved in organized activities.
Clubs
There are two kinds of clubs on the ANC campus.
Common interest clubs, such as Delta Mu (our community service club) and Theater Club are formed around common interests and provide avenues for students to pursue and develop their talents in a supported environment.
We also have four Social Clubs on campus: Alpha Kappa Mu, DEKA, Phi Alpha, and Sigma Delta Pi. These four clubs are open to specific groups of students sophomore age and above. The Alpha Kappa Mu is open to girls living in homes in or around Bryn Athyn (commonly known as "settlement girls"). DEKA is the club for girls living in Glenn Hall, the girls dormitory. Phi Alpha is for the boys living in Stuart Hall, and Sigma Delta Pi is the settlement boys club.
