4/4 Varsity vs. Westtown

The Lions picked up their first league win of the season, defeating Westtown 19-2 in Tuesday afternoon action. Emily C. went 3 for 3 at the plate with 2 RBIs. Caitlin I. added two hits and three runs scored. Dara R. had the hit of the game with a three run triple to center field. Stevie M. tallied seven strikeouts in the victory.>/p>

4/3 Varsity vs. Plumstead Christian

Varsity improved to 3-2 with a 16-0 victory over Plumstead Christian. Megan M. went 2 for 2 with a double, a single, and 2 RBIs. Emily C. added two hits, while Libby A. picked up a two run double.

3/30 Varsity vs. Lawrenceville School

The Lions fell 3-2 on the road against Lawrenceville School. The Lions got on the board in the first inning, when Katie W. hit a two-run single to left field. Lawrenceville held the Lions scoreless for the remainder of the game and picked up two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to secure the victory. Stevie M. had five strikeouts on the mound in the losing effort.

3/29 Varsity vs. Germantown Academy

Varsity improved to 2-1 with a 12-2 victory over Germantown Academy. Katie C. went 3 for 4 at the plate with a triple, two singles and 5 RBIs. Emily C. went 3 for 4 at the plate as well with three singles and 1 RBI. Stevie M. picked up seven strikeouts in the win.

3/24 Varsity vs. Lower Moreland

ANC picked up their first win of the season with a 15-5 victory over Lower Moreland. Stevie M. went 3 for 5 at the plate and tallied five strikeouts on the mound. Carling B. went 2 for 2 and picked up 2 RBIs in her first varsity appearance.

3/21 Varsity vs. Agnes Irwin

The Lions picked up an early lead against a strong Agnes Irwin team, scoring 2 runs in the 1st inning. The Owls answered with runs in the 3rd and 6th innings to tie the game at 2-2. With two Agnes Irwin runners on in the bottom of the 7th, key strike outs from Stevie M. left runners stranded, and sent the game into extra innings. The two teams went scoreless through the 8th and 9th innings. During the bottom of the 10th inning with a runner on second base, Agnes Irwin secured the 3-2 win with a walk-off double to center field. Stevie M. tallied 10 strikeouts on the mound for the Lions.

ANC softball is coming off of a record breaking 2016 season. The Lions went 9-9, and upset the #2 seed in the Friends Schools League semi-finals, to reach the championship game for the first time in school history.

Stevie M. (sophomore/ P) led the Lions on the mound with 107 strikeouts, while adding 22 stolen bases, 18 hits, and a .346 batting average. Other key contributors were Emily C. (junior/ 3B) with a .368 batting average, 21 hits, 10 stolen bases, and a .905 fielding percentage and Katie W. (junior/ 1B) with a .367 batting average, 18 hits, and a .466 on base percentage.

The 2016 season saw the loss of two seniors, Elizabeth J. (CF) and Aubrey A. (2B), as well as the retirement of head coach Len Rose.

Under the new leadership of head coach, Holly Adams, and assistant coaches Jackie Cappellano and Steve Murphy, the Lions are looking forward to a successful 2017 season.
