From the Coaches

The 17-18 season was successful in many ways! The young ladies improved so much in both the physical and the mental aspects of the game. But even more impressive was the never give up attitude that this group displayed, as demonstrated by 2 tremendous comebacks of 18 and 12.

Our JV team recorded its 1st league win in quite some time with a victory over WFS! And improved their season win total from last year to 7.

The V started the season 3 & 2 before a couple of key injuries put a damper on the win column but they were still able to tally 1 more win than the previous season. The team came together as a group enjoying a number of events of the court as well. Great job ladies!

Scores and Recaps

01/08/17 V ANC - 39 vs Kohelet Yeshiva - 25

Well we definitely ended up on top this season! The girl's had a fun win against Kohelet Yeshiva to close out the season and all of our seniors were able to play but Christina. We also had a deep bench of subs and everyone got a few minutes of play time. Well done, everyone! And a great last couple of games! Thanks for the season, LADIES!!!

ANC 29 vs. George School 41 Quaker cup

Today we played George School in the Quaker Cup. It was a very very FUN game to watch and some of the best basketball I have seen from this team all season. We were up at the end of the third, but unfortunately we were unable to hold our lead and come out with the win. Regardless of the score, I am still feeling great about what I saw today and what those girls (along with Coach Dave) were able to accomplish. Way to finish finish strong, girls!

Coach Rachel

VGBB ANC 39 vs. Doane Academy 66

It may not have a been a win, but the girls had their highest scoring game since before Christmas break! Alexis couldn't be stopped under the basket with 16 points and Lisa got her first varsity points! While there were factors we couldn't control and an opponent who apparently was unable to miss a 3 point shot, we still played a great game with the majority of the rebounds both on offense and defense.

VGBB ANC 23 George School 34

JVGBB ANC 12 George School 22

VGBB ANC 20 vs PC 33

This was a very interesting game for ANC. We have never had so many fouls called on us and our positive energy turned to a strange and confused energy. We were down some key players due to sickness and injury and our poor Christine was seriously injured during the game. I was proud of the girls for keeping their cool and trying to finish strong but it was a hard one and everyone could feel it. On a VERY positive note, Allaina was a three point scoring machine!

VGBB ANC 8 Westtown 62

JVGBB ANC 12 Westtown 29

VGBB ANC 10 vs. MFS 43

JVGBB ANC 14 vs. MFS 27

JVGBB 1/18

ANC 9 vs. Yohelet Yeshiva 31

1/17/17 ANC 13 vs. GFS 32

Today the varsity girls played a really strong defense, both in man and zone. Leah was a beast getting rebounds, Arabella fought for all the loose balls and Ryann played through a rolled ankle like a champ. Unfortunately, we didn't quite get the points up on offense to give us the win, but they looked great on all the things we have recently been working on in practice which would make any coach proud!

Coach Rachel

ANC - 13 vs. AFS - 57

Both teams had a rough game on Friday against AFS who are contenders to be this year's FSL champs. While we were admittedly out matched, there were still some great things going on. The first half of the game was the best zone D these girls have played so far this season and AFS was stunned. As a coach, I was also proud of the positive attitudes and support for one another. We are looking ahead to Tuesdays game against GFS with optimism!

JV ANC - 6 vs. AFS - 43

January 9th 2017 ANC vs Friends Select

V ANC 26 FS 39

JV ANC 10 FS 17

Today JV and varsity played Friends Select. JV had an uncountable number of rebounds, got off a lot of shots and were really aggressive! It was a ton of fun to watch(wink wink, Navon)! FS had the W, but not by much. The varsity played really well too. Unfortunately, the score didn't really reflect how equal the teams were so it was a more difficult loss. It did show case the girl's talents and I saw the best man D so far of the season (Ryann has eerily fast hands)! Oh, and Allaina was a rebounding machine! Can't wait for the next one!

Varsity ANC 30 vs. Shipley 54

This afternoon we played Shipley, last year's FSL champs! They are still a very strong team but our teams came ready to play. The girls were aggressive and energetic throughout. Although Shipley had a lot more height, the girls still got off shots and ran a solid offense, no matter what defense the opponents played. It may not have been a W, but we saw a lot of great things on the court!

Coach Rachel

ANC vs. Delaware Valley Friends School

The girls came out huge today hitting 50 points on the scoreboard! The team had a challenge unlike any other. Due to electrical issues, we were unable to use a regulation sized court and instead played on a very miniaturized sized court. At first the proximity to walls, players and spectators was an issue that seemed to put us on edge and bring down their level of play, but after accepting the conditions, showing a positive attitude and looking to teammates, the girls found their rhythm and played a very entertaining game. Great win, girls! Have a great break and PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!

Coach Rachel

12/14/16 Academy of the New Church 18 vs Friends Central School 57

ANC was up against a really challenging team today and they STILL gave Friends Central School a very competitive game! We may not have gotten the W, but the coaches were very impressed with the team's focus, aggressiveness, smart playing under their press and high paced offense. Their hard work during practice is really coming through! Great efforts and attitudes, ANC!

Coach Rachel

12/7/16 ANC vs. Jack M Barrack Hebrew Academy

Girls basketball has done it again! The girls showed their skill and dedication today against Jack M Barrack Hebrew Academy, running a very effective offense and playing a strong defense. The varsity outplayed for an easy win. While the JV lost by a few points, they definitely played with more enthusiasm and energy than their opponents in an impressive first game! This was a very positive day on both ends and I hope we keep the buzz going about our program this year. You girls rock!

Coach Rachel

The girls played a great tournament over the weekend. We faced off with George School Friday night. We were back and forth for most of the game, but unfortunately, George School came out with the win by a few points. On Saturday, we were fighting against Solebury School for 3rd place. The girls dominated the entire game, taking the third place plaque. We had a great weekend and a very successful week in basketball

Coach Rachel

12/1/16 ANC VS Villa Victoria

Starting the season with a perfect record! Let’s all embrace the title of undefeated! The girls had a great game today. Villa Victoria beat us by one point last year. Today, we won 43-37! The girls played with discipline and energy while showing great sportsmanship and support for one another. It was exactly what you hope to see from an ANC team. It was a close game, some times being down a point or two, but by the 4th quarter the girls held a comfortable lead. Almost everyone put some points on the board, and we saw some great rebounds and steals. Overall, we had a lot of fun and played some really good basketball. They are going to have a great season and we cannot wait to see what else they have in store for us.
