2/15/2012 PAISAA State Championship Quarterfinals
ANC 60 v. Germantown Academy 70 OT
Dinjiyl Walker closed out his ANC career with a career-high 33 points but it wasn't enough as ANC fell in overtime to Germantown Academy in the quarterfinals of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools (PAISAA) State Championship. Walker also had 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 7 steals in his final game. Marcus Gilbert finished his ANC career with 19 points and fellow senior Daniel Pittman suffered a leg injury late in the game and finished with 4 points in his final game. ANC finished the season with a 19-7 record overall and a 7-2 record and runner-up finish in the championship game in the Friends Schools League.
2/14/2012 JV ANC 45 @ Pennington 57
The JV’s showed good improvement over the year but couldn’t knock down enough shots as they lost on the road to Pennington School (NJ) in the season finale.
2/13/2012 ANC 94 v. Phelps 26 PAISAA State Championship 1st Round
ANC used a combination of full-court pressure and half-court traps to totally disrupt their opponent as they ran away with a surprisingly lopsided victory in the first round of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Basketball Championship. ANC (#3 seed) had beaten Phelps (#14 seed), by 15 points earlier in the year. The three seniors again led the way with Guard Dinjiyl Walker posting another double-double with a game high 27 points and 11 rebounds (and 5 assists), Marcus Gilbert chipping in with 20 points and 8 boards, and Daniel Pittman scoring 15 points with 6 assists. Ten different players scored for ANC.
2/10/2012– ANC 46 @ Westtown 55 Friends Schools League Finals (@ Haverford College)
ANC’s three seniors, Marcus Gilbert (16 points), Dinjiyl Walker (14 points) and Daniel Pitman (13 points), left everything they had on the court but it wasn’t enough to overcome a poor shooting night (33% overall) and a strong game by Westtown’s 6’ 10” Daniel Ochefu (Villanova). The Lions were the runner-ups in the Friends Schools League for the second straight year and are 4-3 in finals over the last 8 years in the league.
2/8/2012 ANC 54 v. Shipley 51 Friends Schools League Semifinals (@ Westtown)
Senior Guard Dinjiyl Walker weaved through the Shipley defenders for a clutch reverse lay up to put ANC up by three in the last minute and then hit a couple of free throws to keep the lead in the closing seconds. Walker had 9 points in the 4th quarter and a game-high 28 points overall as ANC advanced to their 7th Friends Schools League Finals in the last 8 years. Walker also had 8 rebounds, 7 assists and five steals. Fellow Seniors Marcus Gilbert (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Daniel Pittman (10 points, 7 rebounds) also helped lead the way.
2/4/2012 Varsity ANC 69 @ Phelps 54
Senior Dinjiyl Walker scored 12 points in the 4th Quarter to help ANC pull away to a 15-point victory. Senior Marcus Gilbert led all scorers with 26 points to go with his 15 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Senior Guard Dinjiyl Walker posted a “double-double” of his own with 22 points and 10 rebounds while dishing out 6 assists. Senior Guard Daniel Pittman had a solid game as well with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
2/3/2012 JV ANC 56 v. Pennington 46
All nine ANC JV players scored, led by Freshmen Amir Nelson with 14 and Duke Kendig with 9.
1/31/2012 Varsity ANC 75 v. Shipley 54
Pressure defense led to 20 steals and 30 total turnovers as the ANC Lions smothered Friends Schools League rival Shipley School. The win puts ANC in a three-way tie for first place at the end of league play. Senior Guard Dinjiyl Walker, ANC’s leading scorer on the season, again led the way with 26 points, 6 assists and 6 steals. Fellow Seniors Marcus Gilbert (21 points) and Daniel Pittman (13 points) both finished with double figures in scoring.
1/31/2012 JV ANC 43 v. Shipley 22
The ANC JV’s had a nice win at home over league opponent Shipley School. Freshmen Duke Kendig (13 points) and Amir Nelson (12 points) led the scoring and the rest of the squad was solid.
1/28/2012 Varsity ANC 55 v. Hill School 51 OT
ANC scored all 7 of their points from the line in overtime as ANC held off MAPL opponent Hill School. Senior Dinjiyl Walker rebounded from some early foul trouble to fill the stat sheet with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Senior Marcus Gilbert posted a game high 22 points. Sophomore Forward Jayson Hankins had a team high 10 rebounds.

1/27/2012 Varsity ANC 74 @ Moorestown Friends (NJ) 34
Senior Guard Dinjiyl Walker hit 6 three-pointers on the way to a game high 25 points as ANC rolled to a 40-point victory over their Friends Schools League opponent from New Jersey. Sophomore sixth man Darryl Bryant scored 10 points to post his first double-digit scoring effort at ANC.

1/21/2012 Varsity ANC 59 v. South Shore (NY) 72
Senior Marcus Gilbert exploded for 34 points and was named game MVP at the Kobe Bryant Classic at Bryant's alma mater, Lower Merion High School (PA), but it wasn’t enough as ANC lost to a top ten team from New York City.

1/17/2012 V ANC 55, Friends’ Central 58
Senior guard Daniel Pittman played one of his best all-around games at ANC with 18 points and 6 assists but it wasn’t enough to defeat the two-time defending FSL champions on the road. Pittman showed his toughness by playing most of the game with a painful injury to his shooting hand. He should be ready to go by the weekend after a few days’ rest. Sophomore Forward Jayson Hankins also missed the game with an ankle injury but should be ready by the weekend as well.

1/14/2012 Varsity ANC 51 @ Long Island Lutheran 47
ANC travelled to New York City to play in the Big Apple Classic against a tough private school from Long Island. Senior forward Marcus Gilbert made the crowd go wild with his above the rim game, blocking 6 shots on defense and throwing down a wicked reverse dunk on a feed from Dinjiyl Walker. Gilbert had 16 points and 7 rebounds and was named game MVP. Walker scored 20 points making it his seventh straight game scoring 20 points or more.
1/13/2012 Varsity ANC 57 v. Westtown 40
ANC’s lock-down defense keyed the big win over Friends Schools League rival Westtown. Senior Guard Dinjiyl Walker continued his hot shooting with 23 points and 7 assists to ignite the offense.
1/13/2012 JV ANC 43 v. Westtown 38 OT
The JV’s had a thrilling 43-38 overtime victory over Westtown, the FSL JV Tournament Champs. Freshman Amir Nelson led the way with 19 points and Freshman Duke Kendig made some big shots as well and finished with 12 points.
1/11/2012 Varsity ANC 54 v. Hun School 49 OT
Down by 7 points in the fourth quarter, ANC’s Dinjiyl Walker hit two 3-pointers and made another driving layup in traffic to spark a 9-0 run and help send the game to overtime. Walker scored 7 points in the overtime period to lead ANC to victory. Marcus Gilbert dominated on defense with 7 blocked shots and 8 rebounds to go along with his 15 points on the offensive end.

1/10/2012 Varsity ANC 69 @ George School 42
With smothering defense and blistering hot shooting on offense ANC stormed out with 39 points in the first quarter before turning things over to the bench. Senior guard Dinjiyl Walker continued his torrid scoring pace in 2012 with 29 points on 7 of 9 shooting beyond the arc. Senior Daniel Pittman (4 steals and 6 assists) and Freshman Vince Jackson (5 steals and 5 assists) used their ball-hawking and passing skills to fuel the offense. Senior Forward Marcus Gilbert finished with 13 points.
1/10/2012 JV ANC 40 @ George School 20
Everyone on the JV team played some of their best ball of the season as the ANC JV’s won their second game this year. Jason Deng , a new Sophomore from China, had another excellent game posting double figures in points and rebounds.
1/7/2012 Varsity ANC 47 @ Woodside (VA) 45
ANC went down to Virginia Beach (VA) for the 7 Cities Roundball Classic for the second year in a row and, like last year, came away with a victory over a tough Virginia school. Senior Guard Dinjiyl Walker got fouled on the final driving shot and calmly sunk the two free throws to win the game. Walker, ANC’s leading scorer for the season, finished with a game high 25 points.

The JV squad was unable to advance out of the pool stage and did not make the finals.
1/6/2012 Varsity ANC 73 v. Germantown Friends 41
ANC dominated its league opponent from the opening tap and cruised to a 32 point victory. Senior Guard Daniel Pittman led the way with 24 points including 5 three-pointers and Senior Forward Marcus Gilbert and Sophomore Jayson Hankins controlled the boards with 10 rebounds each. Dinjiyl Walker posted his customary 20 points with 5 threes.

12/29/2011 Varsity 50 vs. St. Joseph – Metuchen (NJ) 62
Senior Marcus G was named game MVP at ANC’s second game of the annual Jameer Nelson Classic showcase event with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 blocks.
12/28/2011 Varsity ANC 55 vs. Newark (DE) 45
Senior Guard Dinjiyl W was named game MVP at the annual Jameer Nelson Classic showcase event with a team high 17 points.
12/17/2011 V ANC 51 v. Mercersburg 30
12/16/2011 V ANC 69 v. Kiski 63
ANC (6-1, 1-0) headed out to Mercersburg, PA for the two day Mercersburg Classic and came home for the holidays with two more wins against two prep schools. Senior Dinjiyl W. led the way against a big Kiski squad with 26 points but ANC would not have won without a huge effort from Sophomore Jason H. with his new career high 17 points and 10 rebounds. In the second game of the weekend against host Mercersburg Academy, Freshman Vince J. set the pace with three first quarter 3-pointers and finished with 19 points on 5-8 shooting beyond the arc.
12/13/2011 Varsity ANC 53 @ Abington Friends 51.
ANC (4-1, 1-0) opened their Friends Schools League schedule with a hard-fought two point victory over rival AFS in AFS’s small, hostile gym. ANC fell behind early but eventually took a small lead in the second half. Dinjiyl W. blocked AFS’s final shot attempt to seal the victory. The three seniors once again led the way with Marcus G. getting 14 points and dominating inside with 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Daniel P. and Dinjiyl W. each had 15 points.

12/9/2011 Varsity ANC 53 @ Life Center Academy 35.
ANC (3-1) struggled to make shots but dominated defensively to shut down Life Center (Burlington , NJ) and generate transition baskets in the Philly.com Tip-Off Classic, the first of several showcase events on ANC’s schedule this year against top teams in the area. The three senior tri-captains led the way with Dinjiyl W. scoring 19 points, Daniel P. 17 points, and Marcus G. 14 points.
12/8/2011 Varsity ANC 56 v. St. Benedict’s 80, ANC 56.
The Lions (2-1) hosted national powerhouse St. Benedict’s (Newark, NJ) , ESPN’s #20 ranked team in the country, but couldn’t pull off the upset over the bigger, deeper, talented Grey Bees. The lions were led by seniors Dinjiyl W. (22 points) and Marcus G. (18 points). Thank you to the fans and the student section for the great support.
12/8/2011 JV ANC 21 v. St Benedict’s Prep 64
The JV squad knew they were overmatched against a JV team that could beat many varsity teams in the area but they fought hard the whole game despite the 64-21 loss.
12/6/2011 Varsity ANC 79 @ Solebury School 53
All five starters finished in double figures as ANC jumped out to a 24-2 lead over Solebury in the first quarter on the way to a 40-point lead in the third before letting the reserves finish the game. New Sophomore Jayson Hankins posted his first double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Marcus G. had a team-high 20 points including a highlight reel dunk off a long lob pass from Dinjiyl W. ANC is now 2-0.
12/6/2011 JV ANC 33 @ Solebury 36
After falling behind early the ANC JV squad used tough full-court pressure to get back in the game but the comeback fell just short. Freshman Amir N. again led the scoring with 20 points
12/3/2011 Varsity ANC 77 v. Haverford School 54
Despite losing three of its stars from last season the smaller, faster ANC Boys Varsity Basketball team showed no signs of a drop-off as they started off the season with an impressive 23 point victory over Haverford School, an Inter-Ac League preseason favorite and a locally ranked team. ANC was led by senior Dinjiyl W. with 30 points and 8 assists. Freshman Vince J. had a debut to remember making 7 of 10 three pointers and finishing with 22 points. Senior Marcus G. had 19 points and 6 rebounds.
