Performing Arts | Performing Arts Portfolio

Our acclaimed Performing Arts Portfolio course allows students to study performance arts in a rigorous academic environment, learning music, dance, drama, and technical theater.

This year-long course is open to juniors and seniors and takes place during the academic school day.

In this performance-based course students participate in a variety of Broadway-style performance pieces, studying vocal technique, dance technique, and character development. In class, students spend time developing and rehearsing performance pieces from both past and current Broadway shows.

Performing Arts Portfolio students also participate in both the fall play and the spring musical at ANC—either on stage or behind the scenes. During the course of the year, students also write theater critiques, research theater history, stage their own performance pieces in student groups, and attend professional performances.

Each year, students stage four performances at the Mitchell Performing Arts Center, and participate in other theater-related activities throughout the year.
