The Arts
Performing Arts | Theater Club
Theater Club provides students with a chance to learn more about theater in a fun, easy-going environment. Club members participate in activities such as acting, role-playing, scriptwriting, directing, and learning about all aspects of theatrical set work, including set work and lighting.
Costume Design
For both of our annual two main-stage plays—our fall play and our spring musical—ANC students assist with costume design and creation. Students can participate in costume design by enrolling in our sixth period cosuming class, as part of Theater Club, through our Senior Project course, or on their own by joining the costume design team. In the past, ANC students have created stunning wearable art for our performers for such vivid productions as Seussical the Musical, The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Carol, Hello Dolly, and HONK!
Stage Craft
ANC's productions are well known for having fantastic, dynamic sets. Past sets have included castles, rooftops, farms, gardens, restaurants, fountains, ponds, a running waterfall, and even a working elevator. Our students are encouraged to help with every stage of set design and creation—from concept to construction to decoration. Our expansive set shop in the Mitchell Performing Arts Center allows students to put their creativity into action under the capable direction of our talented staff.
Technical Theater
Students interested in technical theater can join our sound or lighting design teams for either the fall play or the spring musical. Students are invited to use their creativity to bring our productions to live visually and audibly. Whether students choose to participate in technical theater through our Senior Project course, Theater Club, or in their spare time, there are many ways to use talent in technical theater to help bring our characters and scenery to life.
