Quote of the Month

"Love consists in desiring to give what is one's own to another. To feel the joy of another as joy in oneself -- that is loving."

Arts

At the Academy, there are many opportunities to engage in the arts within the school, but also in the Bryn Athyn Community.

The Bryn Athyn community is a growing center for a broad array of arts.

The Music curriculum at the Academy is augmented by a full calendar of classical performances at Glencairn, and the opportunities with the Bryn Athyn Orchestra, in existance for over 75 years. Contemporary and Folk music is featured in the community and at Bryn Athyn College.

Regular musicals and plays are a part of the school calendar, with additional theatrical opportunities provided by B-ACT, the highly acclaimed Bryn Athyn Community Theater. The Academy's MPAC (mitchellcenter.info), the Mitchell Performing Arts Center, is an extraordinary venue for student and community performances, and also has a regular schedule of professional shows of various kinds.

The recently refurbished Fine Arts building accommodates not only music classes and performances, and is the rehearsal home of the Bryn Athyn Orchestra, but contains studios and facilities for a wide variety of fine arts. The Academy's Glencairn Museum, dedicated to the history of religious art, contains perhaps the best private collection of medieval stained glass in the country. Academy students regularly visit the museum for classes and programs.

The Bryn Athyn Community is also becoming a center for craft art, with programs offered at the Bryn Athyn Cathedral, and local artisans featured at Orchard Artworks, located at the Powell House, which is owned by the Bryn Athyn Church.
