Overall: 13-2
Friends League: 7-0 (Champions)
Northeast League: 6-0 (Champions)
By any measure, the 2007 Boys' Lacrosse season was a success. Our record was 13-2 (6-0 in the Northeast League and 7-0 in the Friends League). It was the first time since 2002 that we had won both leagues. Our win-loss record matched the best in school history (13-2 in 1999).
Six players garnered spots on the Northeast League first team, including our entire first midfield line. Alex Rohtla's 57 points this season is the most scored by an ANC midfielder in recent times (and quite possibly in school history).
We started the season unsure of our abilities, but quickly found that we had no trouble dispatching the teams on the early part of our schedule. Our first major test of the season came at Holy Ghost (last year's league champion); we came out on top in a memorable and hard-fought game. Four days later we beat Shipley on a last-minute goal by Duncan Herder to officially claim the Northeast League title (and clinch the top seed in the FSL playoffs). In the FSL playoffs, we turned away challenges from Westtown and then Friends Central to claim the League championship.
More important than the trophies, records or accolades that we able to collect this season, is the character and resilience exhibited by this team time and time again. This team worked hard together, pushed each other and had fun together. They cared about each other and worked to improve as individuals and as teammates. To put it simply, they did everything that a true team ought to do. This was genuinely a dream season, not because of the championships, but because of the charity, dedication, determination and sacrifice on the part of these players.
