There are four criteria in planning curriculum in the Academy Schools:

that it have a strong liberal arts foundation.
that each course be freely developed by individual teachers in general accordance with carefully stated departmental goals.
that the subject matter has spiritual as well as temporal implications.
that studies can be seen as useful in leading to a life of service to others in this world and the next.
