About half of all classes are single sex. Electives and junior and senior courses tend to be coed. Social activities in the dorms are overseen by the respective school, but most social activity is coed.

This distinctive arrangement stems from a firm philosophical belief, grounded in doctrine, that male and female are both different and complementary in every fiber of their being. To promote the ideal of a mutual love of husband and wife to eternity is one of the most important goals of the schools.
